Yu-Ru Lin to Serve as PI for US Department of Defense (DoD) Team Project

Please join the Department in congratulating DINS Associate Professor Yu-Ru Lin, co-PI Rebecca Hwa and their team on being selected as one of six DoD and university teams to pursue fundamental social science research through a unique program under the DoD’s Minerva Research Initiative.  The program, the Defense Education and Civilian University Research (DECUR) Partnership, aims to develop research partnerships between Defense Professional Military Education (PME) institutions and civilian research universities to improve national security relevant basic social science research, train military personnel in social science methods, and to enhance scientific cooperation between civilian and military educational institutions.

Dr. Lin’s team will explore “Characterizing and Countering the Normalization of Extremism and Communal Violence in Cyber-Social Space.” The team includes Dr Lin, SCI faculty member Rebecca Hwa, and Professors Deborah Wheeler and Andres Miller from the United States Naval Academy.
