UMAP 2021 Best Paper Award Won by Akhuseyinoglu and Brusilovsky

Congratulations are due to IS PhD student Kamil Akhuseyinoglu and DINS faculty Peter Brusilovsky!  Akhuseyinoglu and Brusilovsky were recently honored with the Best Paper Award at UMAP 2021, the 29th Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization. Their paper, Data-Driven Modeling of Learners' Individual Differences for Predicting Engagement and Success in Online Learning, explores how data-driven models of individual differences in the learning process perform better than traditional models of such differences in predicting important parameters of the learning process -- including performance and engagement. The paper is included in the 2021 Proceedings of the conference, which was presented June 21-25 virtually from Utrecht, the Netherlands.
