DINS Seminar Speaker to Discuss Tools for AI-driven Labor Markets

Please join the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems for the next event in the DINS Seminar Series on February 15, 2023.  This week's speaker is Isabella Loaiza, a PhD student and Research Assistant in the Human Dynamics Group at the MIT Media Lab. Isabella will discuss "Designing Human-Centered Tools to Navigate the New World of Work." The presentation will be be held virtually from 11 am to 12 noon on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Abstract: Technological progress and the rise of remote, hybrid, and gig work are reshaping our traditional notions of jobs and careers. As the new world of work offers increased flexibility and a growing number of potential paths, it is becoming more difficult for humans to make informed career decisions. In this talk, I will explain how I use Value-Sensitive Design (VSD) and large-scale occupation data to build two tools to help individuals navigate the new AI-driven labor markets. The first tool addresses economic integration for migrant populations, and the second focuses on US workers looking to relocate to advance their careers.
